> Friday, March 17, 2006: Street Cleaning

(click the thumbnail above for a larger format)

Let's end the week on something easier... Street Cleaning - which for most people in San Francisco is a synonym of: Parking Ticket. Street cleaning typically occurs once a week on different days indicated on parking signs. You're required to not leave your car there during the indicated schedule. If not, you'll get your parking ticket (just like if you don't follow this rule). On that note, have a nice weekend everyone!

Profitez d'autant mieux du week-end, qui'l n'y a pas de street-cleaning au week-end! (submitted on March 17, 2006)

I've learned that lesson as well. The weird thing to me was that they don't clean the whole street in one day but split up the sides of the streets to different days (left side Mondays, right side on Thursdays, or something like that). I guess they wanted to leave options for parking but it made it even more confusing for me... (submitted on March 17, 2006)

great photos as always! (submitted on March 17, 2006)

Manuel, why don't you drive a bike, you'd get rid of all these tickets and you'd surely reshape your legs! (submitted on March 17, 2006)

It's so true! Street Cleaning day in San Francisco is synonymous for getting a parking ticket! I used to live about a block away from where this picture was taken on Sacramento and Laguna. Thank you for taking me back down memory lane! Miss it up there. (submitted on March 17, 2006)

nicola: yes, that's exactly it. I feel the city is doing fine at the various schedules, it's usually not disruptive and always early in the morning as far as I can tell.

lolo: tu es trop bon!

Eric: so... what makes you think my legs are out of shape?!? For the record: I do a lot of walking on the steep hills of San Francisco! Ok? ;-)

Romely: it sounds like you have a few tickets on your record too... well, who doesn't, really, it's unavoidable.
